Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SW Theatre SA wrote poetry and monologues as part of a module titled Writing The Self. This production was entirely collaborative from start to finish. The course is designed by theatre-maker Jason Jacobs, and was conducted online over WhatsApp. Facilitators include Eddie Newman, Babalwa Makwethu. The final performance is filmed and edited by Sema Mogoboa with lighting design by Frans Mandilakhe Zunguze. Concept, design and direction of the play reading is also curated for the theatre, by Jacobs.

The SW Theatre SA forms part of the GlobalGrace project that investigates the variety of ways equalities are made and contested in different parts of the world and how people’s creative practices challenge inequality and engender new possibilities for more equitable ways of living together.

The project employs arts based practices and multi-sensory research to investigate the  production of cultures of equality and enable gender positive approaches to well-being internationally. It is a collaborative project between the NGO SWEAT - the Sex Workers Education and Advocacy Task Force and African Gender Institute & the Centre for Theater, Dance and Performance Study at the University of Cape Town.
